WHITTIER – Writing for Wellness, a focused and directed writing workshop for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and anyone recovering from a serious illness or loss, begins Sept. 16 at PIH Health in Whittier.
PIH Health is sponsoring the workshop, along with the American Cancer Society.
No writing experience is necessary. Participants discuss and respond to literature, short stories and poems through shared writing activities while focusing on their personal experiences in times of illness, trauma and loss.
Emphasis is placed on the therapeutic healing power of a focused writing experience.
The workshop uses the book “Writing for Wellness: A Prescription for Healing” by Julie Davey, which is based on a writing program at the City of Hope.
An introduction to the program will be held Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. in the hospital’s Radiation/Oncology conference room. A series of Monday sessions begin Sept. 30. Dates will be available at the introduction session.
Registration is required by calling (562) 698-0811, ext. 12820, or by e-mailing email@example.com.
