DOWNEY – Community volunteer Diana Moser received Mayor Mario Guerra’s Diakonia Award last week for her decades of volunteerism.
According to a city press release, Moser has been involved in music ministry for the past 40 years. A catechist off and on for 30 years, she is also involved in youth ministry.
Former PTA president at Doty Middle School, she went on to become Downey High School’s band booster president.
She has been a mother of a diabetic son for the past 23 years, which inspired her to become involved with Camp Conrad Chinnock. She is now an advisor to mothers of diabetic children and also supports the camp’s fundraising efforts.
“Diana Moser has been involved in the ministry for many years and demonstrates outstanding leadership,” Guerra said. “She shows support for many people in the community through her dedication.”
Moser was presented the award at the Nov. 26 City Council meeting.
