SANTA FE SPRINGS – Former U.S. military paratroopers are invited to a picnic at Little Lake Park in Santa Fe Springs next month organized by the Hispanic-American Airborne Association and the All Airborne Chapter of Covina.
Paratroopers who served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan are particularly sought.
Airborne military veterans who served during peace time are also encouraged to attend, as well as USMC Force Recon, Navy Seals and Air Force Para-Para Rescue Men.
The picnic is July 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Veterans are invited to bring their families.
Cost is $15 for adults (kids 12 and younger are free).
A similar picnic was held last year and attracted paratroopers from Santa Fe Springs, Whittier, Pico Rivera, Monterey Park, La Verne, San Diego and even from out of state. The group participated in the third National Convention of the Military Paratroopers of Mexico held in Mexico City.
