So many times, we only hear what is wrong with education. I have a wonderful example of what is right!
At Griffith’s Middle School, the students in Advanced Drama class have waited since sixth grade to be on stage in the end of their middle school years drama production. These students have had a long-term substitute since November so they thought all was lost. Lucky for them, their substitute was Ms. Jennifer Boehm.
She quickly saw that “the show must go on” for her students. So she set to work securing a script, motivating the kids to learn their lines, and directing them into actors and actresses. And with the support of administration, she enlisted the help of the art department to help with sets, her fiancée with making props, and she and the drama department students sell tickets during snack and lunches.
On May 30-31, the fruits of their labors will be realized and the students will perform the comedy, “Homework Eats Dog and Other Woeful Tales.”
Please come out and support our students. Tickets will be on sale at the door for only $3. Performances are at 7 p.m. both nights.
We are so lucky to have such a hardworking, dedicated teacher in our district. Ms. Boehm is certainly an outstanding example of what is right in education. Thank you, Ms. Boehm, for your dedication to your students.
