DOWNEY – A community forum to discuss healthcare options under the state’s new healthcare exchange – Covered California – will be held Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the Barbara J. Riley Community and Senior Center.
According to Assembly member Cristina Garcia, who is hosting the forum, health insurance coverage will be offered to everyone, even those with pre-existing conditions or who can’t afford coverage.
“Many low-income and middle class families will qualify for discounted premiums with federal subsidies to help pay for the insurance,” Garcia said in a press release. “The program will provide 10 essential healthcare benefits, including emergency care, hospitalization, prescription drugs, mental health, maternity and newborn care.”
