DOWNEY – Hundreds of local residents are expected to take part in the second annual Downey CROP Hunger Walk on Oct. 13, a 4-mile walk through Downey to raise awareness and money to help end hunger.
The event begins at Moravian Church of Downey with registration at 1 p.m., followed by kick-off festivities at 1:30. The actual walk gets underway at 2.
In addition to the 4-mile walk, there is also a 3-mile version for those who cannot complete the entire route.
Event organizers hope to raise $15,000, with a portion of the proceeds going to PTA HELPS and FoodHelp, a food bank run by Downey First Christian Church.
To sign-up for the walk as an individual or with a team (or to make a donation), go online to crophungerwalk.org/downeyca.
