Man robs bank with fake bomb

NORWALK – Detectives are searching for the man who robbed a Norwalk bank Monday morning using a phony bomb.

According to authorities, the suspect walked into the Union Bank on the 122200 block of Norwalk Boulevard at 10:26 a.m. and placed a phony bomb on the bank teller’s counter.

Sheriff’s deputies called in the bomb squad, which used a robot to neutralize the phony bomb.

The suspect was described only as a man wearing a plaid shirt and gray hooded sweatshirt. No vehicle was seen.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (562) 946-7008.
