LA MIRADA – “Broadway Bound,” a semiautobiographical play by Neil Simon, opens the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts’ 2013-14 season when it opens for a limited engagement Sept. 20.
The Tony Award-winning production runs through Oct. 13.
“Broadway Bound” finds Eugene and his older brother, Stanley, trying to break into the world of show business as professional comedy writers while coping with their parents’ break-up and eventual divorce.
When their material is broadcast on the radio for the first time, the family is upset to hear a thinly-veiled portrait of themselves played for laughs.
Performances of “Broadway Bound” are at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays; 8 p.m. on Fridays; 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturdays; and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
There is no matinee on Sept. 20, and talkbacks with the actors are on Sept. 25 and Oct. 9.
Tickets range from $20-$70 and can be purchased online at lamiradatheatre.com or by calling the box office at (562) 944-9801. Student, senior and group discounts are available.
