DOWNEY – Beth Ruscio, named one of six “Newer Poets of L.A.” last year by the Los Angeles Poetry Festival, will read some of her select work at the Third Thursday Poetry series this Thursday, April 18, at the Rives Mansion.
The event begins with a reception at 7 p.m. The first 12 poets to sign up will read at open mike at 7:30.
An actress, writer and vaudevillian, Ruscio won the Patricia Bibby Scholarship to Idyllwild Summer Poetry in 2006 and is published in the “Poetry Goes to the Movies” issue of “Speechless” with her poem, “Strangled Eventually,” along with her essay and tribute to her dad, “On Acting and the Art of Boxing.”
She has read her poems at the Taper Library, the RedCat Theatre, Beyond Baroque, the Cobalt Cafe, Horse of Another Color and the Pacific Resident Theatre.
The event is free and open to the public. Hot food and soft drinks will be sold for $11.
Valet parking is available by entering the mansion’s driveway on Paramount Boulevard.
Third Thursday Poetry is curated by Lorine Parks, who can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
