DOWNEY – The Downey Police Department will continue using the gun range at Rio Hondo College for at least two more years after agreeing to a two-year lease extension Tuesday.
Downey police officers have used the weapons firing range in Whittier since 1993. In fact, Downey police officers have been trained as range instructors.
In addition to firearms training, police officers also use the range for their monthly firearms qualification.
The city pays Rio Hondo about $8,820 annually for use of the range.
The new deal extends to June 30, 2015.
