DOWNEY – “Pepper, Silk and Ivory: Seeing the Orient Through Jewish Eyes,” is the topic of the Aug. 18 meeting of the Ezra Center for Mature Adults at Temple Ner Tamid in Downey.
Jean Franklin and Ed and Polly Schecter will tell of their travel to China and Japan with Rabbi Marvin Tokayer.
The speakers will share pictures and memories of their trip, in which they searched for Jewish culture and history.
The meeting is free and begins at 10 a.m. A catered kosher lunch will be served afterwards at a cost of $6 for Ezra members and $7 for non-members.
