DOWNEY – The city of Downey’s Parks & Recreation Department has volunteer opportunities for middle school and high school students who are looking to fulfill school volunteer requirements or gain skills and leadership experience.
High school students will work in various City Hall departments, including Building & Planning, Engineering, Human Resources, Fire Prevention and Purchasing.
Both middle school and high school students can work at city-wide special events and youth programs and local parks.
There are minimal fees, and afternoon meetings are scheduled during the year.
For more information, pick up a volunteer interest form at the Parks & Recreation Office located at Apollo Park or online at downeyca.org.
