18 dogs rescued

EL MONTE - SEAACA animal control authorities rescued 18 dogs trapped inside a locked van in South El Monte on June 3.The dogs, which varied in breeds and sizes, were "panting heavily" and some began to show signs of panic," Capt. Aaron Reyes of SEAACA said. SEAACA received a tip about midday June 3 about dogs trapped in a Chevy van on the 2600 block of Loma Ave. in South El Monte. Officers measured the temperature inside the van at 100 degrees. The dogs were rescued throughout the afternoon. "A records check on the vehicle's license plate did not reveal any outstanding warrants or priors at the address on file, and we have not been able to locate an owner thus far," Reyes said. The 18 dogs were taken to SEAACA's headquarters in Downey.
