Beverly Thomas operated daycare

DOWNEY -- Beverly Lynn Thomas, who was born Oct. 27, 1955 to Robert and Genevieve Wartenbe in Downey, passed away March 13 with her husband and children by her side.Thomas grew up the youngest of three children. A talented musician and singer, she traveled with the Christian band The New Beginning. During one performance, she met her future husband, Michael. She married Michael when she was 19. He was still in the Marine Corps, so she pursued a career in banking with the El Toro Marine Federal Credit Union, and within weeks was promoted to executive secretary for the president of the bank. When they moved into their first house in Encinitas, she transferred to San Diego Federal Credit Union for the same position. After having children she quit work to become a stay-at-home mom, and later opened a daycare business. As their children grew older, Beverly and Michael began working with church youth groups. Beverly is survived by her husband of 33 years, Michael; father, Robert Wartenbe; sister, Linda (Steve) Hutchens; brother, Bob (Deborah) Wartenbe; daughters, Jennifer (John) Thompson and Katelyn Thompson; sons, Ryan (Sarah) Thompson and Cameron Thompson; and grandchildren, Caiden, Dylan, and Curren. Services will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Calvary Chapel Camarillo, 380 Mobile Ave., in Camarillo. Graveside services will immediately follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park.
