'Cuckoo's Nest' at Warren

DOWNEY - The Warren High School Drama Department will present Dale Wasserman's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" April 13-17 at the school's Emerson Theatre.Performances are nightly at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 and available for reservations online at www.emersontheatre.net or by calling (562) 869-7306, ext. 87910. "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" tells the story of McMurphy, a man with several assault convictions to his name. After an unfortunate turn of events, he finds himself in trouble with the law once again. Rather than spend his time doing hard labor in prison, he convinces the courts he's crazy enough to need psychiatric care. He is then sent to a hospital where he fits in frighteningly well with his fellow patients. When his different point of view actually begins to cause some of the patients to progress, the head nurse strikes back as his resistance to the hospital routine threatens the very order she has created. Proceeds from the production will go to Warren's Drama Department and their quest to produce young adult theater.
