DCLO to present 'Dames at Sea'

DOWNEY - One of the all-time, ultimate feel-good musicals, "Dames at Sea," is scheduled to start its 10-performance run Feb. 19 at the Downey Theatre.The show pulses with the vibrant energy of a young America getting back on its feet and dancing again. Music by Jime Wise, book and lyrics by George Haimsoln and Robin Miller takes you on a musical trip back to the Depression era of the '30s with such songs as "Good Times and Here to Stay," "Dames at Sea," "Choo Choo Honeymoon," "Singapore Sue," "Bequine" and nine more lilting songs. Immortals of the silver screen Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Ruby Keeler and Dick Powell were shining young stars beginning their climb to stardom in productions such as this that put smiles on the American film audience and set their feet to tapping as they watched the rhythmic, synchronized choreography of the famous Busby Berkley. Plan a family outing, gather a group of friends, members of your club/organization, and become part of this musical experience. Performance dates are Feb. 19, 20, 21, 22, 27 and 28; and March 1,6, 7 and 8. Show times are Friday and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for balcony and $35 for orchestra. Students ages 13-18 are $25, and children 12 and under are $15. Senior citizen "rush" prices are $25, offered 15 minutes before show time based on available seating.
