Donations by Knights of Columbus top $15K

DOWNEY - The Downey Knights of Columbus recently donated more than $15,000 to local community programs.Some of the Downey programs that have benefited from the Knights of Columbus are the Downey police and fire departments, the Rancho Los Amigos Foundation, Arc, the Living Help Center, St. Vincent Meals on Wheels, Los Padrinos Juvenile Detention Center, Gangs Out of Downey, Hope University, and local Catholic churches and their sandwich programs which benefit the homeless. In addition to these programs, the Knights of Columbus also support civic entities, including the Downey Symphony's Music in the Schools program, which sends small groups of musicians to schools to play classical selections and encourage children to participate in music programs. "The Downey Knights are proud to have rendered assistance to these and other groups for many years and plan to continue this twice-a-year assistance in the future," said John Kirschner, Grand Knight for the Downey Knights of Columbus.
