Downey Adult School golf tournament May 18

DOWNEY – The Downey Adult School will host its inaugural Golf Tournament on May 18 as it raises money to support scholarships for career vocational training. The best ball tournament will be held at Rio Hondo Golf Club with tee-off at noon.

Entry fee is $125 per person which includes golf, cart, lunch and a buffet dinner. Prizes and giveaways were donated by local Downey businesses.

For students making the transition from GED completion to careers, proceeds will be made available for scholarships in Career Technical Education programs such as nursing, emergency medical technician, and massage therapy, to name a few.

“A successful golf tournament fundraiser will open up opportunities for many students that might not otherwise be able to afford such training,” adult school officials said.

Downey Adult School has one of the highest placement rates of any adult school in California.

To sign up for the golf tournament, call Kelly Holt at (562) 940-6223.

Sponsorships are also available.
