Frank Kearns to read his poetry at Stay Gallery

DOWNEY -- Frank Kearns, Downey poet, will read from his eagerly awaited collection, "Yearlings," at Stay Gallery on Oct. 15.

“Irish Yankee living in Southern California. Educated in Andover, Massachusetts, the streets of Venice, the UCLA sculpture garden, and the Bethlehem Steel mill in Vernon, California.” This only begins to describe Kearns, a Renaissance man who is also an engineer and the operator of Los Nietos Press, which he and his wife Carol founded to help aspiring writers.

Kearns will display his gift for bridging the East and West Coasts in poems that look clearly at past and present with the understated balance that maturity brings.

The session is open to everyone and starts at 7:30 with an open microphone, a tradition which gives local poets the opportunity to read to a live audience.

Stay Gallery is located at 11140 Downey Avenue in downtown Downey.  Poetry Matters is curated by Lorine Parks
