Glenn Yamasaki named Teacher of the Year

DOWNEY - Warren High School teacher Glenn Yamasaki was named California Project Lead the Way "Teacher of the Year" during a statewide conference last Friday honoring innovation and engineering in California high schools.The nomination process was initiated through student-produced video presentations highlighting the many student accomplishments in various STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities. Project Lead the Way is the leading provider for rigorous and innovative STEM education curricular programs. Used in middle schools and high schools across the U.S., students in Project Lead the Way design, create, build, discover, collaborate and solve problems applying what they learn in math and science. Yamasaki's students recently traveled to a competition in Phoenix, where they earned the Tournament Champion Trophy for finishing in first place. His students also took home the Design Award Trophy for "most innovative and technically challenging robot designs."
