DOWNEY - Julia Desalernos, library media teacher at West Middle School, has been honored as "Teacher of the Year" by the Los Angeles Clippers. Desalernos coordinated West's participation in the NBA's Read to Achieve program, which earned students a visit from the Clippers' Jason Hart earlier this year.
