Letter to the Editor: NRA's false claims

Dear Editor:

Remember back in 2008 when President Obama ran for office and the NRA and conservatives claimed that Obama wants to ban guns and confiscate all guns from Americans? Remember when President Obama ran for re-election in 2012 and once again the NRA and conservative claimed the same thing: Obama wants to ban guns and confiscate them? Guess what? Eight years later and Obama has yet to ban guns and confiscate them.

Now it’s the same thing with Hillary Clinton; the NRA and conservatives claim that Clinton wants to ban guns and confiscate them. What is it with the NRA and conservatives? They make these ridiculous claims without any evidence to support them. A

t no time did Obama or Clinton say anything along the lines of “I want to ban guns and confiscate them.” Maybe they did say it and I missed it; if they did say it, please do find the video clip or the speech transcript and share it, but I doubt you’ll ever find anything. If Obama or Clinton ever did say they want to ban guns and confiscate them, you better believe the NRA and conservatives would have posted those video clips and speech transcripts to back up their claim.

My questions to the NRA and the conservatives who claimed that Obama wanted to ban guns and confiscate them: will you admit that you were wrong, both times? Will you issue an apology to President Obama for making a false claim that never came true? If Clinton is elected president and she does not ban guns and confiscate them, will you do the same: admit you were wrong and issue an apology?

I highly doubt the NRA and conservatives will admit they were wrong or issue an apology, but if they did, maybe they would gain more respect.
