Library card design contest

DOWNEY – The Downey City Library has announced a contest to design a new library card. Designs will be divided into three categories: children (ages 5-12), teens (13-17) and adults (18 and older).

Participants must live, work or go to school in Downey. City of Downey employees and their immediate families are not eligible to participate.

Artwork can be submitted online at downeylibrary.org, in person at the library, or by mail. Mailed entries must be submitted in an 8 1/2 x 11 envelope; no bent entries will be accepted.

Last year, the library issued nearly 8,000 new library cards.

“We have so much talent and enthusiasm for our new Downey brand; I encourage everyone in the community to submit their designs for our new Downey Library cards,” said Mayor Luis Marquez.
