DOWNEY – Communications supervisor Heidi Calhoun has retired after 31 years with the Downey Police Department. “She has been an outstanding employee throughout her career and has served as a role model for other employees,” the department said in a statement. “Her calming voice and steady demeanor no matter the situation have been a true asset to the citizens of Downey and all employees of the department. Dispatchers are rarely recognized for their hard work and performance under pressure, but they should never be overlooked for the key role they play in any police department providing top-notch law enforcement services to the community.

“Heidi will be truly missed and we wish her well as she begins to enjoy her much deserved retirement.”
