Marjorie Erwin services Monday

DOWNEY - Marjorie Erwin, a Downey resident for 50 years, passed away peacefully Nov. 14. She was 89.She was born in Dearborn, Mich., and grew up in St. Joseph, MO before coming to Los Angeles in 1939. She married Warren L. Erwin in 1942. They had three children and resided in Downey. She was a secretary with the Downey Unified School District for 20 years before retiring in 1983 and moving to Torrance. She was an avid reader, gardener and traveler. She is survived by a son, Mark (Janet) Erwin; daughters, Cathy (Jerry) Gillman and Laura (Forrest) Newhall; five grandchildren; and sisters, Helen Michalek, Carmen Valcour and Rita Sandburg. A Rosary will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. at Rice Mortuary Chapel in Torrance. A memorial Mass is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Martyr Church in Redondo Beach.
