More military banners installed

DOWNEY - Applications and donations are still being accepted for the city's military banner program, which recognizes Downey residents on active overseas duty with the U.S. military.Banners list the service member's name and branch of service, and are hung along Firestone Boulevard. The city recently installed 20 more banners, bringing the total to 40. Banners are paid for by family members, residents, community organizations and business owners. The city hangs, installs and maintains the banners. To request an application, or to make a donation, call (562) 904-1895.
