Navy officer reenlists

DOWNEY - Rosalind Ramirez Thomas, a Petty Officer 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy, recently reenlisted and has been assigned to a presidential unit as a member of a medical team.Thomas graduated from Warren High School in 2003 and was employed by the City of Downey Parks and Recreation Department before joining the Navy. A hospital corpsman, she was deployed to Iraq with a Marine unit in 2006 and, in April 2009, deployed to the Persian Gulf on the USS Boxer, where they found themselves involved in the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips from Somali pirates.
