Downey band New American will celebrate the one-year anniversary of their album release with a concert this Saturday at Stay Gallery. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the music ends at midnight. Admission is $5 with proceeds benefiting the gallery’s Stay Young education initiative. New American will perform their debut album in its entirety.
New American’s music has been described as a “cohesion of warm blues melodies and vibrant rock sensibility.” It is comprised of two guitars, a bass, and drums, playing all original songs that range from marauding up-tempo riffing to meandering groovy rhythms.
The foursome came together in 2013 and has been playing all over Los Angeles, Long Beach and Orange County. Their second album is scheduled to be released this summer.
