Off-duty police officer shoots alleged burglars in Downey home

An off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer was involved in a shooting incident early Monday morning when he confronted two burglary suspects at his residence. 

According to a press release posted by the Downey Police Department, the incident occurred on the 7800 block of Borson Street at around 1:00 a.m. 

The off-duty officer was assaulted and discharged his weapon during the encounter. 

Both suspects sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The officer involved was also treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. 

DPD, as well as the District Attorney’s Office is currently investigating the incident.
