Operation School Bell

Operation School Bell, a philanthropic program of Assistance League of Downey, has opened for the school year. Children in need, referred by Downey elementary schools, are given a new jacket, three shirts, two pairs of pants, underwear, socks, shoes, a backpack and a hygiene kit collectively worth about $85. Pictured above showing a typical outfit are (left to right) chairmen Marge Lewis, Janice Allen and Ann-Marie Sannebeck. Funds for Operation School Bell come from the Second Tyme Around thrift store on Downey Avenue and other fundraising events.
