Poetry, live music on May 23

DOWNEY – Artist Roy Anthony Shabla is hosting a gathering of artists, poets and musicians at his Downey home on May 23 at 7 p.m. The monthly series is called The Green Salon. Featured poets include Kenji Liu and Vickie Vertiz, and Polaris Castillo is the featured artist. Music will be provided by Richard Delgado.

The event is also a fundraiser for Ivan Rio, a drummer for a local punk band, who is raising money to study at the Sorbonne this summer.
