Russell Persion was WWII veteran

DOWNEY - Russell E. Persion, a Downey resident for 54 years, passed away Feb. 10. He was 86.Persion served in the Army during World War II, assigned to the 10th Armored Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge under Gen. George S. Patton. He was a member of Downey Masonic Lodge No. 220 and Al Malaikah Shriners. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Fern Persion; son, Michael (Patty) Persion; daughters, Judee (Michael) Corgiat, Janet Harper and Jaime (Danny) Kin; grandchildren, Brenda, Mark, Ben, Adam, Jason, Samantha and Alex; great-grandchildren, Quinton and Turner; brother, Kenneth Persion; and sister, Donna Moss. He was predeceased by his brothers, Gerald and Ronald Persion. Visitation is scheduled for Feb. 18 from 4-8 p.m. at Miller-Mies Mortuary. Funeral services will take place Feb. 19 at 1 p.m., also at Miller-Mies Mortuary. A private burial will take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park following the funeral.
