Alumni welcome UCLA's incoming students

DOWNEY -- Over 50 alumni, students, and friends and family gathered at South Gate Park last Saturday to welcome UCLA's newest students.

The Southeast Bruins held the family friendly event as part of UCLA's Send Off Event Series which are held throughout the world. Alumni spoke of their experiences at UCLA and provided the students with advice while students shared their journeys including how they first learned about their acceptance into UCLA.

This family-friendly event also provided parents and family members with a support network with others who are affiliated with the school. The event included games, tacos, and cake.

Known officially as the UCLA Alumni Los Angeles Southeast Network, the Association is officially recognized by UCLA and strives to create a sense of community among the 5,000 UCLA alumni in the area.

The next event will be a game-viewing watch party at Downey's very own Joseph's Bar and Grill on Saturday, Sept. 3, at 12:30 pm.

For more information about the events or the group, please contact Ricardo Perez, Southeast Bruins President, at rperez@alumni.ucla.edu.
