Schools raise $22K at Fresh & Easy

DOWNEY - Downey schools raised more than $22,000 through fundraisers at Fresh & Easy, the grocery chain announced Tuesday. On designated nights between 4-8 p.m., Fresh & Easy donated 5 percent of total sales to Downey schools. Schools also had the option of participating in the market's "Shop for Schools" promotion, where Fresh & Easy donated $1 to the school for every $20 spent. Each school can decide how to use the money it raised. "In a time when school budgets continue being cut, we're happy to be donating over $22,000 to Downey schools," said Jim Bray, district manager of the Downey Fresh & Easy. "Shop for Schools is much more than just a fundraising program - it is a great way for us to directly help our neighbors, teachers and future leaders, and we're thrilled to be bringing the program back in the fall."
