LYNWOOD - The trauma center at St. Francis Medical Center has been verified as a Level II Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), meaning the hospital not only has the resources necessary for the treatment of a traumatic injury, but the "entire spectrum of care" to address the needs of all injured patients, including rehabilitation.St. Francis Medical Center underwent an on-site review by a team of experienced reviewers to earn the designation. "St. Francis Medical Center opened its Trauma Center in 1996 at a time when many trauma centers and emergency departments were closing their doors," said Tchaka Shepherd, MD, the hospital's medical director of trauma services.
