DOWNEY -- Authorities on Friday identified the suspects charged with murdering Downey police officer Ricky Galvez.

The suspects are Steven Knott, 18; Jeremy Anthony Alvarez, 21; and Abel Diaz, 16. Knott and Alvarez are brothers.

Knott and Alvarez were booked for murder and are being held without bail. They are scheduled to make their first court appearance Monday.

Diaz also was charged with murder and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

Galvez, 29, a five-year veteran of the Downey Police Department, was shot and killed Wednesday night as he sat in his personal car in a parking lot adjacent to the police station. Another officer who heard the shot gave chase.

The three suspects were arrested Thursday in Montebello.
