Toastmasters hosting open house

DOWNEY - Mayo Mario Guerra has proclaimed October to be "Toastmasters' Month," in celebration of the non-profit organization's 85 years helping members feel comfortable speaking in front of groups.Downey Toastmasters Club 587 will celebrate the proclamation at its open house even Oct. 20 where the mayor will be a guest speaker. Toastmasters Club 587 meets every Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Downey, room 116, at 6 p.m. and is open to anyone with a desire to improve their communication and leadership skills.
