Two arrested for copper theft

CERRITOS – Two Cypress residents were arrested for alleged grand theft and possession of burglary tools after sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at a Cerritos office complex on Nov. 25. An employee at the Artesia Boulevard property reported hearing footsteps on the roof. When deputies responded at 12:31 a.m., a search uncovered an industrial air-conditioning unit had been dismantled and the copper wiring and radiator had been removed.

The suspects, ages 43 and 36, admitted to disassembling the air-conditioning unit and taking the contents, authorities said.

Cerritos Station detectives are handling the follow-up investigation.
