Warren High athlete wins leadership award

DOWNEY - Warren High School student Jared Avalos has won a National Leadership Grant, awarded to student athletes who exhibit leadership within their community and school.The award is sponsored by NCSA - a college recruiting firm - and the NFL Players Association. The NCSA said it will work with Avalos and his family through the rest of high school career and help him find a college "that best matches his academic and athletic achievements." "Anytime you can identify, help and reward future leaders to further their education and athletic pursuits, it's a win-win and we are pleased to contribute to this worthy effort with NCSA," said DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the NFLPA.
