YMCA opens kids programs to non-members

DOWNEY – The Downey YMCA announced this week that its youth programs and classes are now open to all children, regardless of whether they belong to the Y. “We really wanted to be more inclusive of everyone, and make sure there are never any roadblocks to getting kids healthy,” said Anne Ullstrom, executive director of the Downey YMCA.

Non-members pay $25 per month for a once-a-week class, or $40 for classes that meet twice a week.

A wide array of classes are available, including gymanstics, performance dance, martial arts, tumbling, and more.

The YMCA also announced a promotion in which new members pay the calendar date as a registration fee. For example, on Jan. 16, the joining fee is $16. On Jan. 17, the fee is $17, etc.
