Tonight's episode of "American Greed: The Fugitives" features the story of Harold Rangel who, with his father Juan Rangel, operated Financial Plus Investments in Downey.

The firm is accused of using a Ponzi scheme to scam distressed homeowners out of $35 million.

Juan Rangel was sentenced to 22 years in prison last year. Harold Rangel is still a fugitive.

The Downey Patriot, which reported extensively on the case at the time, assisted with producing the episode. Mayor Roger Brossmer was nice enough to lend us his office for a taped interview.
