Higgins resigns as fire department chaplain

Father John Higgins of St. Raymond's Catholic Church has resigned as chaplain of the Downey Fire Department, effective yesterday.
Fire Chief Lonnie Croom announced the news in an e-mail to council members.
No reason was given for Higgins' departure, and I'm not going to speculate. Higgins served as chaplain for about 18 months.
