By Downey's standards, this is pretty risque.
Mosaik Hookah Lounge on Downey Avenue is hosting a Lingerie Night this Thursday, waiving its cover charge for women dressed in their best lingerie (preferably cheetah print).
There will also be a "booty-shaking" contest where women can compete for prizes.
This Lingerie Night is significant considering Downey's famously conservative ideals. There's a reason there is no strip club or tattoo parlor in the city.
Last year, Downey even blocked an attempt by Club DB Lounge to hire go-go dancers.
As planning commissioner Robert Kiefer said at the time, "I am whole-heartedly against having scantily clad women dancing on platforms. It's not what we want for the downtown area."
It will be interesting to see if this Lingerie Night actually happens and if it's a one-time occurrence or a shift in Downey's culture.
