Downey Police are investigating an apparent deadly shooting that occurred early this morning on Florence Avenue, near Rives Avenue.

Residents began tweeting the Patriot shortly after 2 a.m. to report hearing gunshots.

"Holy [expletive] there was a shooting across the street from my house right now!" tweeted @Vq03. "6gunshots and I think someone's dead."

Police officials were still at the scene at 8:30 a.m. Station watch commanders were not available for comment.

Adriana Garcia, who lives nearby, told the Patriot she also heard multiple gunshots.
