Downey Police have announced increased patrols this Saturday night targeting drunk drivers.
“Along with warm weather and start of the vacation season, it’s also the season for college and high school graduation,” Downey police officials said in a news release. “With so many reasons for celebrations, law enforcement is sending two messages: 1.) don’t drink and drive, nor ride with someone who has been drinking, and 2.) extra officers will (be) working to stop and arrest those who drive impaired.”
Law enforcement agencies around L.A. County will be conducting roving DUI patrols and checkpoints this weekend in search of drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Funding for the increased patrol is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
