Downey Theatre's use by non-profits scheduled for discussion

A public meeting to review the Downey Theatre’s policies regarding its usage by non-profit organizations is scheduled for this coming Wednesday, April 24, at 3 p.m. inside the city library.

The discussion will be led by a city council subcommittee comprised of Roger Brossmer and Alex Saab.

If you remember, the Downey Civic Light Opera got into a tiff with theater management last year after the DCLO insisted it handle its own ticket sales. All other non-profits – to our knowledge – are required to go through the theater box office, which is managed by VenueTech.

Executive producer Marsha Moode reached a compromise with the city that allowed the DCLO to finish its season.

Wednesday’s meeting takes place inside the library’s Cormack Room and will include time for public comment.
