Family of young cancer victim plan car wash

Friends and family of Alyssa Marie Alvarez, a 6-year-old girl who died last week of cancer, are hosting a car wash Saturday, April 6, to raise money to help cover funeral expenses.

The car wash will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kids First Learning Center- 13200 Columbia Way. Donations are appreciated.

Any funds remaining after all funeral expenses are covered will be used to establish the Alyssa Maria Alvarez Memorial Charity to commemorate Alyssa’s life and provide support to children battling cancer and other childhood diseases.

Alyssa fearlessly fought her battle with cancer, but passed away on March 31, 2013, before she reached her 7th birthday.
