cross country rings

Friday morning report, July 4
WRITTEN BY :   Eric Pierce

Five things to know this Friday morning:

1.) Warren High School’s cross country team received their championship rings Wednesday during a banquet at Pina Pizza House. Photo by Mark Fetter.

2.) Most government offices are closed today, including City Hall. As a reminder, the city is promising a zero-tolerance approach to illegal fireworks, with minimum fines of $2,000. Homeowners will also be held responsible for illegal fireworks ignited on their property.

3.) I created a Lost & Found Pets thread on the Patriot’s Facebook page that goes live at 8 p.m. tonight. If you lose a pet, or find an animal, post a picture and hopefully we can reunite pets with their families. SEAACA and the county animal shelter both open at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

4.) A video production company has purchased a 7,900 sq. ft. lot in Downey after obtaining SBA financing. AVC Anton Video Concepts Inc. purchased a commercial building at 8060 Telegraph Rd.

The firm was founded by Joaquin Vodanovich in 2004 and provides video production and post production services, primarily to the Latino entertainment community. Its clients include Sony Music, MGM/Mirage Resorts and Gloria Estefan.

5.) Elizabeth Trombley, public affairs director for Kaiser Permanente, was installed as the 111th president of the Downey Chamber of Commerce last week. Cindy Kovach of U.S. Bank is president-elect.
