In-N-Out has filed plans with City Hall indicating it wants to demolish the office building directly to its north in order to add parking and expand its drive-thru.
The Downey Planning Commission will consider the request at a public hearing Oct. 16.
According to a public hearing notice, In-N-Out is seeking permission to raze the building — located at 11101 Lakewood Blvd. — to enlarge its parking lot.
More importantly, it would lengthen the restaurant’s drive-thru lane, which is known to back-up onto Lakewood Boulevard.
The notice doesn’t make clear if In-N-Out owns the office building or the property. More details are expected to be released Oct. 11, when the project’s staff report is made public.
