Downey’s 10 newest fire recruits were going through final training exercises before they receive their official badges later this week, said Downey battalion chief Brian Wolf.
The recruits went through five simulated burns, where they observed fire behavior such as fire growth, flashover signs, thermal layering, effective fire stream management and proper ventilation techniques, said assistant fire chief Mark Gillaspie.
According to Wolf, there were no injuries and everything went as planned.
